Business Studies

Business Studies is an interesting and challenging subject that gives students a good understanding of how businesses and the economy operate.

We currently follow OCR BUSINESS STUDIES (GCSE) J253  

The course is assessed in the following way:

Examination 75% Controlled Assessment 25%

There are two exams, one at the end of Year 10 and one at the end of Year 11. The course consists of three main units:

1.Marketing and Enterprise

  • Business Plans
  • Business Ethics

For this topic there is a Controlled Assessmentworth 25% of the overall marks.

Students must complete three assignments and the actual assessment must be carried out in lesson time. Research and preparation can be done in class and at home.

  • Employees

The exam for this unit is taken at the end of Year 10 and is worth 25% of the

overall marks.

3. Production and Finance and External Environment.

The exam for this unit is taken at the end of Year 11.
