Citizenship in KS4

As of September 2011, the majority of year 10 students will take the compulsory Citizenship Studies GCSE awarded by Edexcel. They will receive 3 lessons per fortnight in year 10 and then 2 lessons per fortnight in year 11.

A selected minority of students will use this lesson time, to work towards the STEP Up Level 1 qualification awarded by the NOCN.

Both qualifications help students to develop into well rounded human beings who are sensitive to the needs of others, have the skills required to take on the challenges of adult life and the understanding to make informed decisions which affect themselves and those around them.

As the course develops within Soar Valley College, this information will be updated further.
