CREATIVE ARTS SHOWCASE REVIEW

On Thursday 6th July 2017, the Creative Arts Faculty held its annual ‘Showcase event’ with some fantastic talent on show. The talent was from across three subject areas – Art, Drama & Music and the evening was divided into three sections. The first part of the evening was a music concert in which there were 50 pupils from across KS3 & KS4 performing in a variety of musical groups. The highlight of this part was watching all musicians perform like professionals, full of confidence and brilliance.

The second part of the evening was the Art exhibition, displayed in the canteen area. There were over 200 pieces of Art work on display from across KS3 & KS4. Visitors commented on the high standard of this work and a lot of the work was of A ‘Level standard. Well done to Miss Kaur, the art team and students for this outstanding collection of talent.

Also during this part, we had our year 11s perform a variety of different musical styles, with the highlight being their final farewell song. These are always very emotional and we thank you all your efforts and performances across the last 5 years. You all have been wonderful. Good luck in the next part of life’s journey.

The last part of the evening, was the performance of the musical – ‘Annie’. This was absolutely brilliant. The cast was made of 22 pupils from across KS3 & KS4. These students have been working together as a team for the last 10 months, every Wednesday and Friday. We have watched them grow as a group, through the ups and downs, to the fantastic group of talented students. Well done to Mr Warner, Ms Oughton, Ms Grainger, Miss Houlton and all the students that took part. Wow!

Finally I would just like to say a massive thank you to the students, staff and parents for making the Creative Arts Showcase an outstanding evening of talent. The next evening will be the musical ‘School of Rock’, so watch this space.
